Why?

The Character Minutes and Ethical Minutes Planned Learning Experiences provide students with practice tools for making good character decisions. It also provides opportunities for teachers and administrators to open the door and have conversations about character. The creative avenues in the experiences include activities and scenarios that allow for discussion and application of character traits that can have a lasting impact on a student’s life. The planned learning experiences are also designed to include critical thinking skills that are also greatly needed by today’s students. Character Minutes and Ethical Minutes use a variety of:

  • Introductory Activities with Objectives
  • Activities
  • Projects (a middle school component) Teachers may have students plan the event but not actually conduct it.
  • Scenarios These relate to “real world” work and life experiences to better prepare students for their future in the world of work as well as to help them become productive members of society.
  • Journal topics
  • Closing Activities
